11 June 2010 - It's here!

Johan Roodt (developer) always comes up with last minute, brilliant ideas and a day before the official opening of the world cup he announced that Langezandt would host our own World Cup! 

Yes, we had our own World Cup and the opening consisted of a walk in by all the relevant teams, dogs and friends, an official opening speech was given by, "Mr Bladder" (ala Rudi), a much desired Trophy designed (ala arty Christel), and the field was set !   Teams were hastely selected, kitted and bandaged, for 3 a side, 3 minute games, with a minute scone and Coke break ! 

Competition was fierce with 6 teams participating, The Heavies, Ama Krokka, Mighty Vuvuzelas, Ammazandte, The Rebels and the Jama-Jamas had a good time playing in this knock out tournament with frienzied support being offered from the side lines. The refereeing was conducted flawlessly by the smooth moving of our dear Tannie Louise, normally in charge of the smooth running of the domestic affairs of our office and the Roodt household!  

The Ama Krokka and the Mighty Vuvuzelas destroyed all opposition to progress to the finals of our World Cup and we are proud to announce that the Ama Krokkas (Lizbe, Oom Fanie and Oliver) walked off with the much desired trophy!

As with all serious sporting events some price was paid ! Dr Bosch, from Bredasdorp, was very perplexed when he entered the room, where Joey was lying, saying that there was someone in the waiting room wearing the same T-shirt as hers!  With torn ligaments, one operation, 2 moonboots on stand by in Langezandt, we can't wait for the next World Cup !  So we wish Costa and Joey a speedy recovery and trust they will be ready for the next Langezandt world cup.

A good time was had by the spectators and players alike and we ended the day in good South African style with Boeries and Coke!
